Sandra García Saldarriaga is a Colombian typeface designer based in Mexico City. She holds a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, a master's degree in Typeface Design, and a certificate in Typeface Design from The Cooper Union in New York. Her 2016 collaboration on Woniek—a typeface for the Wounaan language—marked the beginning of her focus on underrepresented writing systems. As a co-founder of Tipastype, she develops fonts centered on legibility for beginning readers and Indigenous languages, and she co-authored *Elementype: Una Guía Práctica del Uso tipográfico*. Her work has been showcased at events such as ATypI (Tokyo and Stanford), Typographics, and What Design Can Do. In 2022, she completed a residency at HMCT Pasadena, where she co-developed Achtli—a typeface for early readers—and co-authored the book *Mujeres Hispanas y Tipografía*. She also teaches Typography and Editorial Design at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Her achievements include being selected as a finalist for the Communication Arts and LADAWARDS awards, as well as receiving recognition from Tipos Latinos for her typeface Makemake. She also organizes the Multilingüe event, which focuses on technologies for writing Indigenous languages, and is a founding member of the Red Tipográfica. Her typefaces are available through ILoveTypography, Latinotype, MyFonts, and Cocijotype.
